Last year we announced our plan to quadruple our farm network by the end of 2022, and things have been moving fast! Our 15-acre Berea facility is almost 90% complete and is expected to start shipping salad greens to top grocery stores and restaurants in the coming months. The 60-acre Richmond facility for tomatoes is approximately 85% complete, and the 30-acre Somerset facility for berries and cucumbers is about 80% complete. All three new farms are expected to start operating by the end of the year joining the Morehead flagship farm that’s been delivering tomatoes since January 2021.

We just completed the first lighting test at the AppHarvest Berea indoor farm for salad greens. The high-tech farm's hybrid lighting uses sunlight boosted by traditional and advanced LED lights that are 40% more efficient. This 15-acre leafy facility will be one of the largest in the world and is expected to provide salad greens for top grocery stores and restaurants this year.

On Friday, we celebrated the launch of our Madison Southern High School farm in Berea, Ky, just a few minutes away from our upcoming 15-acre salad greens facility. Madison Southern students will now have access to tech to learn and grow fresh leafy greens that they can share with fellow students and the community.
